Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon got a fantastic third anniversary gift this weekend – their twins!  Carey’s representative, Cindi Berger, confirmed to the Associated Press that the babies had been born on Saturday at 9:07AM pacific time in a hospital in Los Angeles.

Carey and Cannon’s little girl was born first, weighing five pounds, three ounces and measuring eighteen inches.  Her brother came second, but was a little larger than his sister at five pounds, six ounces and nineteen inches long.

The babies haven’t been named yet, according to Berger.  Berger also shared the fact that the forty one year old mom, who had been through false labor before, was calm and unconcerned in part because she thought this was another false alarm.  Her thirty year old husband, on the other hand, was so nervous he initially took his wife to the wrong department in the hospital and had to be guided to the maternity ward by a nurse.

“It was like right out of an ‘I Love Lucy’ skit,” Berger told the AP.

Cannon and Carey plan on renewing their wedding vows on Sunday. They got married in 2007, and were the subject of many baby rumors right after their marriage.  It was revealed this year that they actually were expecting shortly after their marriage, but Carey had suffered a miscarriage.  The couple revealed the miscarriage shortly after announcing that Carey was pregnant again in an effort to help other women who suffer miscarriages feel less alone in their troubles.

Congratulations, Mariah and Nick!
